The Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area

Each Saturday, beginning May 5 through October 27, the 5th annual Hernando Farmers Market, voted Best Farmer’s Market in Mississippi in 2010 and 7th favorite farmers market in the nation in 2011, will be open for business. Set on the picturesque town square, the market highlights the best of local food and agricultural products including seasonal produce, farm-fresh dairy, beef, pork and poultry products, canned goods, baked goods, soaps, creams and artisan items. This year, the market adds several new vendors offering catfish and prawns, organic vegetables and chickens and much, much more. With over 45 vendors at its peak, the market offers a wide variety of local goods while providing a fun, neighborly spot for families, kids---and even dogs--to visit. A certified Mississippi Market by the Department of Agriculture and Commerce, the Hernando Farmers Market encourages and promotes access to fresh local food and supports the growth of local food networks. Live music, special events and more throughout the season.
