The Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area includes 22 Mississippi Main Street Association communities, and fully recognizes the contributions that Main Street programs make to local economies.

With their historic architecture, fine dining and lodging establishments, unique shops, art galleries, and heritage museums, area Main Streets and downtowns contain invaluable assets and are themselves among the region’s greatest treasures.

Since the people, places and events here in the Mississippi Hills have made a mighty big splash, it’s only natural that the stories ripple outward, so that just beyond our borders there’s a world of history and culture you may want to explore.

For example, once you’ve been inspired by Elvis’ Birthplace, it’s just a hop in your blue suede shoes to Memphis, home of Graceland and Beale Street, where teenage Elvis soaked up the stylings of B.B. King.  There’s also Sun Studio, where Elvis first recorded, the legendary Stax Museum and the Smithsonian’s Memphis Rock N Soul Museum.
