High Point Roasters

High Point Roasters is the oldest coffee roasting operation in the state of Mississippi. Founded in 2004 by Dan Skinner in New Albany, MS, the transitioned in 2023 to his son-in-law and daughter, Sam & Katherine Hardin. As a family owned and operated business, High Point Roasters sources the highest quality green coffees from 14 countries year-round, and even more coffees are available as custom blends or with flavoring added.

Two Diedrich gas-fired roasters are used to produce around 20 lbs. of roasted coffee per batch, which takes 12-18 minutes depending on the roast level. From there the coffee is cooled with forced air and packaged in valved bags. The valves are necessary to prevent the bags from exploding, as fresh coffee releases a substantial amount of gas in the first few days after roasting. Production volume is carefully managed to ensure that every bag of coffee sold is freshly roasted.

While HPR has its foundation in supporting privately owned coffee shops seeking to offer fresh and locally roasted coffee, retail bags are available online (www.hproasters.com) and in their roasting shop located on Highway 15 north of New Albany. Tours of the roastery are offered during operating hours, Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm.
