PROJECT: Hill Country Picnic, Marshall County
An annual music fest showcasing Hill Country Blues
Occurring annually in June
What began as a non-profit organization in 2006 to celebrate the distinctive Hill Country Blues has evolved into a weekend-long music celebration of the Mississippi Hills.
Musicians and their families gather each June in Waterford, Mississippi, to play and dance to the unique Hill Country Blues.
The festival features many of the stalwarts of Hill Country Blues each year, including Kenny Brown; members of the Burnsides and Kimbrough families; and Sharde Thomas, granddaughter of Otha Turner, perhaps the last living link of Fife and Drum blues music.
