Holly Springs Itinerary

Foodies in search of a new adventure need look no further than north Mississippi where it will certainly take more than one or two days to experience all we have to offer.

Day 1

Start your Saturday off early with a cup of coffee and a pastry at Coffee in Holly just off the historic courthouse square in downtown Holly Springs. Walk across the street to the Holly Springs Farmers Market that operates every Saturday from May through October and check out what area growers have to offer. Be sure to get some freshly made bread, fruit as well as a jar of locally sourced honey for Sunday morning’s breakfast. Before leaving the farmer’s market, check out the Celtic Homestead stall where they will be selling their delicious jams, butters and preserves and always have something available to sample.

Another not to miss stop is the Retro Rooster just across the square from the farmer’s market. Shoppers will discover a wonderful selection of men’s and women’s clothing, home décor and, of course, Mississippi made food products.

While you are in Holly Springs stop by Carpenter Farms who grow some of the best tomatoes in the Midsouth and see what was freshly picked that morning.

As you continue your quest for local produce, take a short ride to Jones Greenhouses & Berry Farm in nearby Slayden who are open on Fridays and Saturdays from mid-April through mid-June. If you are lucky, you will be visiting on the Saturday before Mother’s Day for their annual Mother’s Day Market.

After a full morning of shopping, take a break and enjoy lunch at one of the food trucks set up onsite for the market. Now that you are rested up take some time to explore the variety of vendors selling a lovely selection of unique handmade items such as jewelry, paintings or pottery. Since this weekend is all about Mississippi food, your visit to Jones Greenhouses & Berry Farm won’t be complete without a stop at their storefront, Katey Marie’s, where they sell their signature blackberry products. Take home a couple of jars of pepper jelly as well as a bottle of their blackberry BBQ sauce for the next time you grill out.

Head back to Kirkwood National Golf Club & Cottages in Holly Springs and check into one of the spacious cottages situated right on the golf course for a relaxing evening.

Before settling in for the night, dine at Clancy’s Café in Red Banks for fresh Mississippi raised catfish served with some of the best hush puppies in the area.

Day 2

You will be glad you bought the homemade bread at the farmer’s market as you enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your cottage along with a cup of locally roasted coffee from Sweet Aroma.

Since you are on a mini vacation, take time to play nine holes at Kirkwood National as you think about your next visit to Holly Springs.
